Gio Ponti for Richard Ginori rare Gran Rosso di Doccia glazed porcelain vase model 380T with a gold body and red at base, rim and inside. Stamped manufacturer’s mark to underside Richard Ginori Fabricato en Italia 380T.
Beginning in 1929, Ponti steered the ceramic production of Richard Ginori away from the excess of his artistic “novecento” majolica and moved in a more rationalist direction in the Gran Rosso di Doccia series. These vases often appear in photographs documenting rationalist interiors of the 1930s such as Baldessari’s design for the Spadacini apartment (1932) and in room-arrangements by Franco Albini and Ponti for the 1936 Triennale.
