For more than a century, Bonacina has exemplified Italian excellence with its history and craftsmanship of furniture-making. It was founded by Giovanni Bonacina in 1889 in Lurago d’Erba, located in hilly and fertile area of Brianza which is north of Milan. Using the local materials reed and cane of this region along with rattan from southeast Asia, Bonacina combined two traditional crafts practiced in the region – basketry and furniture making. During the 1950s, the revolution in design and art flourished in which Bonacina embraced this collaboration between production experience and talented architects and designers of the period.
